Mount Kenya Trekking Overview
Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian [5,199 metres or 17,057 feet], Nelion [5,188 m or 17,021 ft and Point Lenana [4,985 m or 16,355 ft].
Mount Kenya is located in the former Eastern and Central provinces of Kenya. Mount Kenya is the source of the name of the Republic of Kenya. The forested slopes are an important source of water for much of Kenya.

5 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Naromoru Route Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Naromoru Town
Depart Nairobi early morning and begin the journey to Naromoru town accompanied by our friendly and knowledgeable mountain guide. Check inn at a hotel in town for lunch. You will spend the rest the day resting and acclimatizing. Diner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Naromoru Town– Met Station
After breakfast you will be met the mountain and his team of porters and cook. Proceed to main park gate 2,440m. After the park formalities, you will start the hike the mountain through the rain forest for nine kilometers to the Met Station 3050m; lunch en route. Diner and overnight at met station.

Day 3: Met Station – Mackinders Camp
After breakfast, depart with your packed lunch and start the day’s hike through the heather and the moorland zones to Mackinders camp 4300m. Diner and overnight at Mackinders camp.

Day 4: Mackinders Camp – Point Lenana – Met Station
This will be the longest day of the trek. Take an early morning tea and at around 3.00 am and start climbing along a lose scree; sometimes it is covered with snow. You will reach the summit of Lenana 4,985m at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. Point lenana is the third peak. After the sunrise, descend down to Austrian hut and further down Mackinder camp taking three hours where you will have breakfast. Proceed further down to Met station; lunch en route taking four hours arriving in the afternoon for much needed rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Met Station – Naromoru – Nairobi
After breakfast, depart the camp at 8.00 am and descend for two hours to Naromoru gate where you will connect a transfer car off the mountain to Naromoru town. Drop off the porters and cook. You will be driven back to Nairobi; lunch en route arriving late afternoon. Drop off at your hotel where your expedition ends.
